I expected heroic tales of the 'Iceman' and insights into breathing techniques, cold exposure and positive mindset. What I didn't expect were the tragic events Wim and his family faced, along with the honest admittance of what helped Wim to heal his broken heart and process grief.

Wim Hof humbly acknowledges the long history of breath work and has volunteered his body to science on many occasions to prove/document the benefits of his three-pillar approach.

At the end of most chapters you're provided with step-by-step instructions on how to apply what you've just read, such as breathing exercises, interoception, ice baths and cold plunges.

The Wim Hof method breathing is my go to breathing exercise, I love it! I'd highly recommend looking into the Cold, Breathing and Mind techniques provided my Wim Hof. If you're looking to check-in with your body, the 'breath holds' can provide  a unique moment of peace and clarity as you bring your attention to sensations in your body, noticing your heart beat and any tension your holding.

There is no room for speculation as breathing techniques can mean harm when not practiced right and when done in unsafe environments. Wim always runs his techniques by science. Guided Wim Hof Breathing - 3 Rounds

 !! Don't do the breathing exercises in a swimming pool, before going underwater, beneath the shower, or piloting any vehicle. Always practice sitting or lying down in a safe environment. Tinnitus symptoms may appear as a result of pushing too forcefully during the breathing exercise. If this happens, take a step back in your future practice, it’s important to increase gradually, not forcefully !!
